Creative premise

Making the story live in the room.

For Berkeley Playhouse’s tenth-anniversary season, Elizabeth chose a newly expanded version of James and the Giant Peach as a story about acceptance, trust, and the unexpected community that forms around a child in need of one.

The production embraced Roald Dahl’s scale and eccentricity through a large visual world and a buoyant ensemble, while keeping the emotional journey grounded in James learning to trust people unlike himself.
